Kibins

Kibinai, Kybyn; Kibin (singular in Lithuanian: kibinas) are traditional pastries filled with mutton and onion, popular with Karaite ethnic minority in Lithuania. As everything Karaite in Lithuania, they are mostly associated with the city of Trakai. English-language travel guides compare them to Cornish pasties. Initially, they come from Crimea from where the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas the Great took Tatar and Karaite families to become their guards in order to thank them for their help during his fight against the Golden Horde. INGREDIENTS
1 egg wash for covering kibins
Chicken stock
Dough
4 1/2 cup (1125 ml, 38.0 fl. oz) wheat flour
0.2 kg (0.44 lb.) butter
0.2 kg (0.44 lb.) sour cream
3 eggs
Salt (to taste)
Meat
0.6 kg (1.3 lb.) chicken
1 big chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black ground pepper

DIRECTIONS
1. Mix all dough ingredient together. Cool the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
2. Mix all meat ingredients together.
3. Flatten the dough using a rolling pin. Cut the dough in about 12 cm (4.7ÔÇ│) circles.
4. Take about a tablespoon of meat and put it in the middle of the circle. Close it and try to form sort of braid. Cover them in egg wash.
5. Put them in the preheated oven at 200 ┬░C (390 ┬░F) for about 40 minutes or until they are done. Cover kibins in more egg wash during cooking, if needed.
6. Eat them with some chicken stock or alone.

1. Sumai┼íykite visus te┼ílos ingredientus. Te┼íl─ů atv─Śsinkite ┼íaldytuve ma┼żdaug 30 minu─Źi┼│.
2. Sumai┼íykite visus m─Śsos ingredientus.
3. Te┼íl─ů i┼íplokite, naudodami ko─Ź─Śl─ů, ir i┼ípjaukite apie 12 cm (4,7 ÔÇ│) skersmens skritulius.
4. Paimkite ma┼żdaug ┼íauk┼ít─ů m─Śsos mi┼íinio ir ─»d─Śkite j─» ─» skritulio vidur─». U┼żdarykite kibin─ů ir bandykite suformuoti, tarytum, kas─ů i┼í te┼ílos
